Big Shot Flower card

Today's card is totally cased from a lady called Emma's blog: Devotion to the dream. I didn't have the exact same papers but I loved it so much I had to give it a go! I am still to get a big shot myself, but my lovely friend has one and let me play! Just Add Ink's Challenge this week is "just add...a die cut" and this card has two: the lovely Top Die and Fun Flower Bigz L.
I even attempted using pink ink and 'daubers' on the edges of the flower (I normally avoid using them-along with roughing edges!)

Wedding Card with a Butterfly

I'm still here-but my crafting things are pretty much boxed up-ready for moving in October; so crafting has been a bit difficult! However, I did manage to make one last card for a sweet couple getting married.
I used the Bliss stamping set and embossed the butterfly and swirly motif in gold.

Pink blossom Birthday card

I went to another lovely craft evening last week and made this card. I finished it off with a big pink button. I'm going to enter it in the Paper Players challenge 59 this week: "get your pink ON". I know there's a bit of green in there but it does also uses 3 pinks, so I hope it counts!

A La Card Monkey 69: guest designer!

I'm one of the guest designers today on A la Card Monkey for this sketch I entered last week. The card above is for the following sketch:
I hope you like it!

Funky box (and cards)

Yet more fun was had at last week's craft evening: we made this v.cute little box (i must use something to show scale-SU stamps and dies have a habit of appearing huge from photos, whereas in reality they are quite dinky!)

Here's a pic of my lovely Top Note box from the side...

And the cards...Rich Razzleberry Birthday Wishes

And Warm Wishes using an embossing folder and geranium flower stamp

Handmade Flower

Check out this labour of love! I found out about this technique at a recent Pink Ladies Quarterly crop/meet up. A lady was showing us how to do it on one of the inspiration tables.
I wanted to try it out and this week's Friday MashUp! has given me the perfect opportunity-"handmade flower or flowers"

It started out as lots of little petals made from the Owl Punch (with their feet cut off!)

Paper Pals Paper Piercing

I've had quite a productive weekend-so here's another creation: I decided to use up some scraps I had lying about and made this little card topper. I then did a little "poking" round the edge for a bit more interest. I wasn't being too exact (as the corners don't really match up!) but I still like the effect.
PPA #104 gave me the idea as their challenge this week.

In Colours Inkspirations

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #80 is all about Concord Crush, Pear Pizazz, Peach Parfait and White. I was quite excited about this as I had seen a card card made with similar colours here. The lady behind the inspiration is Carol Claxton who blogs here (but I can't find the image on her blog!) Anyway, it it just so beautiful that I had to case it!

I had lots of scraps left over from the above card so I did a little weaving and made another version of a card I did a while back. Sorry for the turquoise hue that has decended over the picture- only paper I could find for a quick background!

Simply Stampin' Challenge #14

Here's my entry for Simply Stampin' Challenge #14 using the chosen colours:

Whisper White, Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry, Peach Parfait

I have been borrowing the "Build a Blossom" stamp set and punch from a friend, and making lots of petals ready for future projects :)

A punchy peacock!

Ta dah! I have been working on this little number since Christmas-after getting my 2 step bird punch. I thought there must be a way of making a peacock, so I got experimenting. I did use the 2 step bird punch- the branch i used for the outline of the feathers, then 2 birds together for the body. Here's how it looked before I stuck it all together:

I thought I'd enter this one into PPA's 100th birthday blog post "What's your technique?" (it's punching btw!)
I added a bit of texture to the body with more little punched hearts which I dipped in light green ink for a little definition.
For the headpiece I ended up using wire and beads (I had originally tried the leaves from the branch punch, but they just weren't working)

Enjoy!

Card making evening #2

I spent a lovely evening last week making cards, we actually made 4, but I gave one away and haven't finished the other yet! I LOVE the 3 flower stamp used above and had fun with the cottage garden set below. We even got to add gems to make it twinkle.

A Brief Hiatus...

I have been on hols for a week, and have just not got around to any card-making recently. Desperate to get back to it, and luckily get a chance to on Thursday eve at a friends-can't wait!!

Meanwhile I found some photos of the rest of the cards I made at the last evening.
and one more.....

just in time- buttons & bows

With any luck I have just made the deadline for Simply Stampin' Challenge #6. I finished it last night, but it was too late to take a photo!

Hello Again

Well, since I had all these colours out, I thought I'd make another card using pear, peach and poppy for PPA #92. I got to try out a new (for me) stamp set too: "Hello Again"

Pear, Peach and Poppy Combo

I've finally made another card! This time it brings these 3 challenges together:

Tuesday Morning Sketches No. 92

PPA #92: Colour Challenge
Our Creative Corner-"The Wonder of Weaving"~check out my woven paper background!
I've left the little treat pouch in the middle free for a little message to go into, like the one I made here

The diamond in the Tuesday morning sketch was again a great excuse to use the treat pouch that I so fondly love! And I finally got to add some buttons along the bottom too.
The Colours in PPA 92 I was rather excited about -mainly because I actually own them in paper form and in SU marker pens, being part of the "In Colours" range.

Happy Easter!

I wasn't keen on doing an Easter card to start with but once I got working with ColourQ's challenge #81 colours this week I found it quite fun. I just re-found a bag of big eyelets-and was quite chuffed when I found I had they right shades too!

I'm also entering a new challenge this week: The Shabby Tea Room #58 PASTELS and STRIPES

And finally Stamping' Celebration Inspiation Challenge #48

Another day, another card!

I've combined 2 challenges with this card: Colour throwdown 138 (i've chosen gold as my 'pick a colour' choice)
And I've loosely based the design on Mojo Monday's sketch 187
The stamp set is "Bliss"-unfortunately i don't own this one, but have a friend who does (thank you!) I've seen this combination on so many blogs and just wanted to have a go myself:) It's finished off with a 'tiny tag' hello.

Springtime Vintage

I had a lovely time last night at yet another SU card making night, and made some really sweet cards that I will talk about another time; but what I did learn was to think about decorating the inside of my cards-something I always thought would be way too time consuming, but it doesn't have to be at all...just a little strip of paper and a sentiment...
I've been wanting to break into my pack of Springtime Vintage DSP (Stampin Up) papers for a while now..so I did!

And of course I had to find another challenge to use these pretty papers with:  The Paper Players Challenge #43 ~ A clean and simple sketch. I tweaked it a bit, and came up with this:

Layers of blue hues

This one took me back again to my days of textiles at school-sewing with whatever i could find and sending sewing machine needles flying whilst trying to sew over cane! I took the colour inspiration from this week's CR84FN #24 and found some aqua blue ribbon that was just right for the challenge. I then laid out the ribbons and decided to stitch them one after the other.

Not too sure what I wanted after that, so I raided my scrap stash for blues and aquas, and even ventured into my garage-where i found the cane. I then came across the Cupcake craft challenge #138 with its "lots of Layers" theme- and decided to do just that-build up some more layers. I stitched further over some strips of blue curvey paper and then built up the flower motif. I sewed over this a bit too. Finally I took the cane and used a close zig-zag to try and cover it. The perfectionist in me wanted to cover up all the wood, but I ran out of thread! But I quite like the unfinished/rustic feel now!

Card making evening!

I had a lovely evening card making with some friends last night. We churned out 5 different cards (amazing since I normally spend an evening making one!) using lots of different SU stamp sets that i'd seen but never got to use before. Here's 3 (i have a soft spot for Razzle raspberry!)

Here's a close up of the two tiny cards. We used daubers to create the shaded edges and hostess set "cute by the inch"-the owl was a hit!

For this little Thanks card we used Whisper White ink and a 3-flower stamp from "cottage garden" stamp set for the background. "So many thanks" is the big stamp here-and we used the "stamping write marker pens" to colour it in , this way the hearts could be a different colour.

I've got a few days off now- so time for some challenges!
