Autumnal Orange Box

 

Here's a lovely little box we made at Craft night. We got to choose our colours and paper, so I went for the paper first and thought I'd compliment/bring out the orange in it by going for orange card too. My friend had worked really hard on the measurements so the lid fitted the box just right :) 

We cut out a window in the box so you can see what's inside (sweeties perhaps?!) I made a tag with the bit I cut out.

Since I am using all SU products, I can enter this into SUO Challenge 28, Fall Colors

Paper Pals Paper Piercing

I've had quite a productive weekend-so here's another creation: I decided to use up some scraps I had lying about and made this little card topper. I then did a little "poking" round the edge for a bit more interest. I wasn't being too exact (as the corners don't really match up!) but I still like the effect.
PPA #104 gave me the idea as their challenge this week.

In Colours Inkspirations

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #80 is all about Concord Crush, Pear Pizazz, Peach Parfait and White. I was quite excited about this as I had seen a card card made with similar colours here. The lady behind the inspiration is Carol Claxton who blogs here (but I can't find the image on her blog!) Anyway, it it just so beautiful that I had to case it!

I had lots of scraps left over from the above card so I did a little weaving and made another version of a card I did a while back. Sorry for the turquoise hue that has decended over the picture- only paper I could find for a quick background!

Old Olive Birthday Wishes

Another week and another craft evening! This one was about playing with the "tiny tags" stamp set and punch. I kept everything in Old Olive green. I turned it into a birthday card by adding "Birthday wishes" sentiment. I will enter it into The Friday MashUp! challenge Make A Wish (Create a Birthday Card or Project)

Hello Again

Well, since I had all these colours out, I thought I'd make another card using pear, peach and poppy for PPA #92. I got to try out a new (for me) stamp set too: "Hello Again"

The diamond in the Tuesday morning sketch was again a great excuse to use the treat pouch that I so fondly love! And I finally got to add some buttons along the bottom too.
The Colours in PPA 92 I was rather excited about -mainly because I actually own them in paper form and in SU marker pens, being part of the "In Colours" range.

Springtime Vintage

I had a lovely time last night at yet another SU card making night, and made some really sweet cards that I will talk about another time; but what I did learn was to think about decorating the inside of my cards-something I always thought would be way too time consuming, but it doesn't have to be at all...just a little strip of paper and a sentiment...

I've been wanting to break into my pack of Springtime Vintage DSP (Stampin Up) papers for a while now..so I did!

And of course I had to find another challenge to use these pretty papers with:  The Paper Players Challenge #43 ~ A clean and simple sketch. I tweaked it a bit, and came up with this:

These are also the colours we worked with the other night, so i'll show you what I made there too...

 I tend to drag out all my bits and pieces when I'm crafting and it ends up covering the sitting room!
As you can see I pick out anything I can find in the challenge colours and then work out what I want to do as I go.

I found the big bit of ribbon first and knew I wanted that in the middle...

Layers of blue hues

This one took me back again to my days of textiles at school-sewing with whatever i could find and sending sewing machine needles flying whilst trying to sew over cane! I took the colour inspiration from this week's CR84FN #24 and found some aqua blue ribbon that was just right for the challenge. I then laid out the ribbons and decided to stitch them one after the other.

Not too sure what I wanted after that, so I raided my scrap stash for blues and aquas, and even ventured into my garage-where i found the cane. I then came across the Cupcake craft challenge #138 with its "lots of Layers" theme- and decided to do just that-build up some more layers. I stitched further over some strips of blue curvey paper and then built up the flower motif. I sewed over this a bit too. Finally I took the cane and used a close zig-zag to try and cover it. The perfectionist in me wanted to cover up all the wood, but I ran out of thread! But I quite like the unfinished/rustic feel now!

Baby Pink

I really enjoyed making this one-it took me all evening and i kept bringing out box after box of my craft stuff to try and find things to work with. I must take a pic of the state/mess I get into just making a single card!

And the colours-well, HSS #62: Pink-a-licious had just the right scheme to work with!

And then to top it off i'll enter it into  SUO Challenge 16: Animal cards as i have an elephant and duckies!)

Baby blue

Time to make a baby card! This one i've entered for Friday Mashup #37: Animal Challenge - I managed to squeeze in the elephant from "out of the box"! I also used the the "Nursery Letters" stampin' around wheel to create the pattern on the baby vest.

Blue, Orange and Green

This card is for Colour Throwdown #134 and I was able to try out my new scallop border punch!

I've used the "happy birthday" stamps from wow flowers and birthday whimsy. And a nice big bit of ribbon finishes it off :)

Happy Birthday with PPA 85

I got a set of SU marker pens a while back-in the earth elements colours. The pens work really well for stamps that have different parts that could do with being different colours-like cake stamp from "On a Pedestal".
I decided to use this stamped image along with the card sketch from PPA 85. This was going along fine until I realised I hadn't put a sentiment anywhere....

I had a Martha Stewart "Happy Birthday" pre-punched sentiment in my box of scraps (which matched the hints of red in this card) -but where to put it??

Ta-dah! I snuck it behind the cake motif! It just didn't seem to work anywhere on the card; but it fits snugley onto a label die cut which I punched out.
I cut a little slit down the edge of the motif and slid the label in place :)

Purples and Greens

I couldn't go too long without bringing back the purple birdie-and here he is! The colour combination at Just Add Ink works really well for my favourite birdie combos. The sketch is from Mojo Monday 182 - it uses a nice big circle shape-which I can frame the bird with.

Our Creative Corner "Fabric Challenge"

OCC "Fabric Challenge"

I'm going back to my textile roots today with bits of felt, organza and gold thread. I used free hand machine embroidery for the swirly stitches and then finished it off with a couple of paper punched butterflies.
I haven't made it into a card yet, as i'm thinking of making it into a wall hanging or maybe pop it into a frame.
I must get out my sewing machine more you know!

Springtime

Quite a few blog challenges are choosing Spring as a theme but i seem to have missed the deadlines for all but PPA84! I do love the colours of spring: yellows (for daffodils and crocus), purples (crocus and blue bells), whites (snowdrops) and then greens and blues of grasses and sky.

I wasn't sure if i liked this card at first-a bit busy. But it's growing on me! I've tried to create daffodils with the 5 petal punch (i know daffs have 6 petals, but he ho!) Its definitely a punch art card but there is a little bit of stamping in there-the central "for you" from SU punch bunch and then the little leaves from SU sweetpea stamp set.

Finally got my Mojo back!

I've been lacking in get up and go with regard to making cards for a couple of weeks, but last night i bought all my crafty bits into the sitting room, looked through some challenges and made a couple of cards-yey!
So here's my interpretation of Mojo 181 (just in time!)

Scallops for PPA #82

Here's my card  for PPA 82 with an emphasis on Scallops. The punch bunch SU 'for you' stamp fits perfectly with the SU scallop punch, followed by my giant scallop punch (orange) and then to finish off i've bordered the card with straight scallops in green card.

Treat holder is back!

I found another challenge to work with in Hand Stamped Sentiments #55 (As you can see i'm getting rather addicted to challenges!)
I was looking at the sketch but wasn't too keen on the pocket shape; I then remembered the good old treat holders in this post and voila an idea formed!

I still had scraps left over from my last card (and one of the many scallop motifs!) So all that was left to do was pop something inside the holder- I chose a little label and heat embossed a birthday cake in gold.  


The second pic (below) shows what the label looks like in full.

Bright Birthday

I had fun working with the Colour Q challenge #72 colours this week. I wanted to carry on using my new scallop and circle punches so that's what I did. I actually made about 16 of these little motifs all in different combinations of the 4 colours- so will probably be creating with these for some time! I am quite proud of the stamped sentiment at the bottom- a bit of a delicate task colouring in each of the letters separately but a great result i think :)
